Nothing mattered more to Zach and Macie on their wedding day than their loved ones. They wanted their wedding to be elegant, timeless, and full of warmth. And on their special day, there were heartfelt toasts from the best man and maid of honor, a choreographed surprise dance with the bride and her parents, and lots of Little Debbie treats (the groom’s favorite). But most importantly, just five days before Christmas, on Zach and Macie’s wedding day, they celebrated surrounded by family, friends, and so much love.
What was your color palette and your style vision?
Since we wanted something simple and natural we decided to go with greys, whites, and browns. Our only “color” was the natural evergreen that was used for all of our floral arrangements.
Tell us about your gown!
I loved my gown so much because it was soft, simple, and timeless. I really hope I have a daughter or granddaughter to wear it one day… only if they want to!
What unique elements or DIY details did you include to make your wedding day personal?
We wanted our wedding to reflect us. We had Babe’s Chicken cater, because that is one of our favorite places to eat, and we both had our favorite beer as the signature drink: Angry Orchard for me, and Revolvers Blood and Honey for Zach. Of course, there were other options, but we wanted to make it personal.
For Zach’s “grooms cake,” I had three baskets full of his favorite Little Debbie’s snacks, because he loves them.
Our guestbook was a map of the world because Zach and I love to travel. We had guests sign in the ocean and the land was not a map, but music paper because most of our traveling has been through singing.
Tell us about your flowers…
We used mixed evergreens, baby’s breath, and pine cones for all of my flowers, and they were beautiful. It really created warmth with everything.
What was your favorite moment?
My favorite moment would have to be Zach’s vows. It was literally the most beautiful and sweet thing I have ever heard, and that is saying a lot being a music teacher and musician.
What was your favorite crafted detail?
My favorite crafted detail would have to be the Mason jars that my mom decorated. She spent so much time making them all so different and mismatched.
What makes you smile when you think back on your wedding day?
The most hilarious moment was everyone belting to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” during the final dance. It was everything I could have hoped for!
I also loved my surprise father/daughter/mother dance.
What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?
Nothing can prepare you enough for the overwhelming amount of love you will feel that day. Not just from and for your new husband, but from family and friends too. On our wedding night, Zach and I stayed up all night talking about how much love we felt and how lucky we were to have everyone in that room as part of our lives. My advice is to invite those who truly love you. Even if that makes the list bigger, or smaller, invite the ones who have nothing but LOVE for you, and you for them. It will make for the best day ever!
